Reader response: Degree of serotonin reuptake inhibition of antidepressants and ischemic risk: A cohort study


Douros et al.1 assessed the effect of strong selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on the incident ischemic stroke and myocardial infarction (MI). Weak SSRI use was set as a control, and rate ratios (95% confidence intervals [CIs]) of strong SSRIs for ischemic stroke and MI were 0.88 (0.80–0.97) and 1.00 (0.87–1.15), respectively. I have 2 concerns about ischemic stroke.
