- Vitamin A is necessary for all cells to grow. This is true for hair cells as well. Vitamin A makes skin glands secrete an oily substance known as sebum, which provides hydration for your scalp. This hydration is what can keep your hair healthy. However, you don’t want to have too much vitamin A because it could backfire and lead to hair loss. Diets without vitamin A also lead to hair loss. To get vitamin A, eat sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, spinach or kale. Vitamin A is also found in milk, eggs, and yogurt.
- B Vitamins are great to prevent hair loss. One of the B vitamins is biotin. People who don’t get enough biotin have been known to have hair loss. It also is used in products that are designed to stem hair loss from happening. Biotin is found in a number of foods. Other B vitamins help create red blood cells. Hair cells need oxygen that comes from red blood cells. The red blood cells also carry nutrients to scalp and hair follicles.
