Wow. What a blast. What a weekend! The Non-Surgical Symposium 2019 has been absolutely phenomenal. Held over the weekend at Sydney International Conference Centre from 14 – 16 June it was everything it’s built up to be. Supported by the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS); Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists (ASCD); Cosmetic Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA), endorsed by the New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine and Event Managed by The Production House Events (TPHE), the Non-Surgical Symposium is always an assault on the senses (in a good way!) with the industry’s most revered national and international surgeons, practitioners, dermatologists, physicians, nurses, therapists, device companies, researchers, scientists and representatives and a program filled to the brink with presentations, workshops, demonstrations, networking opportunities, social events and so much more, including lollies and Berroca – don’t underestimate the power of sugar and glucose. Phew!
I have to admit that while I caught a few excellent presentations by some engaging speakers, most of my time this year was spent with the over 90 exhibitors in the exhibition hall discovering some of the latest in the non-surgical aesthetic world that are and are being introduced to the Australian market. The symposium for me was a wonderful opportunity to learn about all the new technologies, devices and treatments now available to patients; which ones are getting the best results; what they do and where we can find them. I was able to sit down and chat with some of the practitioners using the devices and pick their brains to find out why we, as patients, should be excited about them and how they work.
I also always love catching up with US Plastic Surgeon and non-surgical expert Dr Steven Weiner and this year he had some exciting news about a new device by Lutronic coming to Australia very soon (stay tuned!!!). I was also excited by a new skincare range being introduced by High Tech Medical, and I caught up with Rachel from Silicone Valley to talk about it. Unless you’ve been under a rock, you’ll have heard of Excel V from leading device company Cutera, and they’ve just launched Excel V+ – don’t worry, I’ll be sharing that one shortly too! The buzz was high around one of Cryomed’s new devices, the MChair. This device adds to the changing way we look at treating incontinence issues, and wait till you learn about the pelvic floor exercises! I also got to chat with pocket rocket Dr Gina Messiha from Ocean Cosmetics about the Cynosure’s Vivace (Fractional Micro Needling RF); San Francisco Plastic Surgeon Dr David Seiber regarding the Halo treatment and Lynne from Stratpharma on their upcoming Post-Procedure Packs that are likely to become an integral part of any patient’s recovery. And I can’t not mention catching up with Australia’s own non-surgical rockstar Dr Naomi – you’ll love my chat about managing work, family, and all the rest with her. So many wonderful things always happening in the non-surgical world!!
Of course, as usual, I’ll have a bunch of interviews, podcasts and blogs coming up soon to share with you everything I learned and was able to take away from the conference to bring to you, the patient.
I can’t go without mentioning the wonderful soical events which bring together an industry with whom I am proud and absolutely honoured to be a part of.
Thanks to all the exhibitors, speakers, attendees and of course the organising committee, The Production House Events (TPHE), ASAPS, CPCA and ASCD for your passion, knowledge, energy and time to make this my most favourite NSS yet!
Bring on 2020 I say!
