Grace was born on March 7, 2017. At birth, to her parents heartbreak, she was diagnosed with complete atrioventricular canal defect (AVSD), as well as trisomy 21. She had open heart surgery on August 7, 2017 at just 5 months old.

The first year of her life was hard on her family, especially the first 5 months as she struggled to thrive with her ‘broken’ heart. As hard as it was to see their baby endure open heart surgery, they are eternally grateful! She began to thrive and grow after her heart was repaired, and she continues to amaze her family and her care team with her progress. Grace’s mom, dad, 3 siblings, and entire family are so thankful for her amazing surgeon, doctors, nurses, and the NICU & PICU team at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital!
