Just Say “No” To Thread Lifts

Aging can be hard, especially when you’re faced with added pressures from today’s society to maintain a certain level of beauty and youth. Whether you’re feeling the pressure to look a certain way for other people, or for yourself, those emotions are no joke. Most men and women today are on the constant prowl for that miracle product or quick fix. Unfortunately, when it comes to quick fixes like thread lifts, the results can be inconsistent and short lived.
A thread lift is a type of procedure where temporary sutures are used to create “lift-like” result. Instead of removing any loose facial skin surgically, a thread lift simply suspends any excess skin by stitching up portions of it. This creates a tightening effect. A lot of people are drawn to thread lifts because they are, seemingly, not nearly as invasive as a traditional face lift cosmetic procedure, require less healing and appears to be a quick fix. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving.
Doctor Jean-Paul Azzi, M.D., a double board certified Palm Beach facial plastic surgeon who specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the face, strongly advises against thread lifts because there truly is no shortcut to long lasting natural looking facial rejuvenation procedures. While this type of procedure may sound easier on the patient and doctor than a traditional facelift, Dr. Azzi warns that if thread lifts are not completed correctly, they can appear awkward and be challenging to fix.
“When people come to see me for complications of thread lifts, I often times have to perform complicated repairs including removing all the tiny hooks and scarring,” Dr. Azzi said. “Most patients will opt to have a deep-plane facelift at the same time to improve the signs of aging they wanted the thread lift to correct originally.”
Although these patients may come to Dr. Azzi unhappy with the results from another cosmetic surgeon, his expertise and skill ensures they leave ecstatic with their results. In many cases, a traditional facelift or mid-facelift could produce the desired youthful effects that patients are looking for, and unlike thread lifts, these procedures create results that will last over time.
A botched procedure can definitely be avoided with the right doctor, with the right amount of experience, and the right skillset. The world of cosmetic surgery is constantly evolving with new products and new procedures. It is highly important to find a cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Azzi who stays abreast and informed of all new procedures and cutting edge techniques that will create a seamless experience for you from consultation to healing.
It’s okay to want to change the way you look, but when it comes to changing something about appearance, take the time to do your research. A quick fix might actually take longer than another type of procedure because of corrections and become more expensive over time.
